Seeing Red brings together past projects, exhibits inspired by
Forty Hall and a gallery of work interpreting the exhibition title.
st
The exhibition starts on the 1 floor with room displays inspired by
life at Forty Hall and the Seeing Red gallery which showcases
members’ interpretations of red, for our Ruby Anniversary.
Members contributing to the room displays include Glenis Baker,
Ailsa Bulger, Terina Foster-Friend, Edna France, Chris Fraser and
Jackie O’Malley. Seeing Red gallery contributors are acknowledged
in this guide next to their work.
nd
On the 2 floor, in the Elsynge Room, you will see our most recent
group project the crewel work wall hanging ‘A Stitch in Time’
(2022). An earlier wall hanging (2017), based on The Rainbow
Portrait of Queen Elizabeth 1, is also exhibited there. Also on show
is the Stitch Day project that sparked the idea for A Stitch in Time!
The Button Box, five Stitch Books and other examples of work
illustrate just a few of the techniques and stitches explored by
members.
